Silom Runners Discover Two Best Parkrun Routes for Weekly 5K
Silom locals have settled on two main routes that deliver flat terrain and reliable timing for weekly 5k efforts.
How we reported this

Parkrun participation in Silom rose sharply after the June schedule posted new start times at both Lumphini and Benjakitti sites.
The increase lines up with the district’s established pattern of early-morning training groups that meet before office hours on weekdays and before the heat builds on weekends. Residents who work near Chong Nonsi BTS station now list the Saturday runs as their main outdoor activity rather than gym sessions that require membership fees.
Lumphini Park option
The Lumphini loop begins at the Rama IV Road entrance opposite the Dusit Thani intersection. Runners complete two full circuits of the 2.5-kilometre inner path that circles the lake and passes the open-air exercise zones near the Sathorn side gate. The course stays shaded for most of the distance and stays closed to vehicles until 9 a.m., giving the field a clear run.
Benjakitti Park on the opposite side of Silom provides the second choice. The start line sits at the Sukhumvit 24 entrance, and participants follow the raised boardwalk that skirts the water before returning along the paved path that runs parallel to Queen Sirikit National Convention Centre. Both locations post marshals at the 1 km and 4 km points and use the same barcode system for results.
Practical details
The events remain free. Registration opened in March 2024 and now records an average field of 285 finishers each week across the two Silom venues. The next run takes place on 11 July 2026 at 7 a.m. at both sites. Runners must download the official parkrun app, print or save their barcode, and arrive fifteen minutes early for the safety briefing.
Those new to the format can join the Wednesday evening pacing sessions run by the Silom Striders group that meets at the same Lumphini gate. The sessions cost nothing and cover the exact route used on Saturdays. Local residents also note that water refill stations operate at both parks until midday, removing the need to carry bottles.
