Riverside Bangkok Parkruns Draw Hundreds Weekly Along River Routes
Runners in Riverside Bkk can choose from established Saturday morning routes that draw hundreds each week along the river and nearby green spaces.
How we reported this
The parkrun at Riverside Promenade Park pulled 412 participants on 4 July 2026, with the 5-kilometre course starting at the pier opposite the Mandarin Oriental and finishing near the Asiatique pier.
Interest in these free timed runs has risen sharply this year as more residents seek low-cost outdoor exercise options during the early rainy season months when indoor gyms feel less appealing.
Riverside Promenade and Sathorn Park routes
The Riverside Promenade course follows the Chao Phraya riverbank for two flat kilometres before turning inland along Charoen Krung Road, then loops back past the old Customs House. Organisers from the Bangkok Running Collective mark the route every Saturday at 7am and provide timing chips for free. A second option operates at Sathorn Park on Sathorn Road, where the 5-kilometre circuit uses the park’s inner paths and the adjacent footbridge over the canal, starting at the same time from the main gate near the Sathorn Pier BTS station.
Both locations stay within easy reach of the river neighbourhoods, avoiding the need for long commutes and offering shade from large rain trees along most sections.
Attendance figures and next steps
Official parkrun records show average weekly attendance across the two Riverside Bkk sites reached 387 runners between January and June 2026, up from 291 in the same period last year. The events remain free with no registration fee, though volunteers ask participants to bring their own barcode printed from the parkrun website.
Anyone planning to join can download the parkrun app, select the Riverside Promenade or Sathorn Park event, and arrive by 6:45am to complete a short volunteer briefing. First-timers receive a welcome pack at the finish area that lists upcoming dates through December.
