A typical two-bedroom apartment in Thonglor will now pay a fixed 450 baht monthly waste fee instead of the scheduled 520 baht increase. Families with metered water connections avoid a 180 baht annual reconnection charge previously applied after temporary shut-offs. These changes directly reduce out-of-pocket costs for the 12,000 households registered with the municipal utility database.
The 2026 Thonglor Budget Paper allocates 28 million baht to cover the revenue shortfall from the frozen fees. Municipal finance documents state this amount equals 2.3 percent of the total rates revenue projected for the current fiscal year.
Next steps for residents and council
City Hall will issue updated utility statements by 15 July showing the adjusted charges. Residents can apply for the one-time water connection rebate through the online portal or at the municipal service centre on Sukhumvit Soi 55 until 30 September. The ordinance requires the council to review the freeze again before the 2027-28 budget cycle begins.
