Thonglor Mayor Raises Monthly Parking Permit Fees Starting August

The Thonglor District Office has revised its residential parking permit policy, raising the monthly fee from 800 baht to 1,050 baht for vehicles registered at addresses within the district boundaries. The change applies to all permit holders who use on-street spaces in sois off Thonglor Road and Sukhumvit 55, according to the district's 2026 traffic management order issued on 2 July.
The revision comes as vehicle registrations in the district have grown by 14 percent over the past two years, according to Bangkok Metropolitan Administration records. District officials state the adjustment covers expanded enforcement patrols and new digital permit tracking software budgeted at 8.2 million baht in the current fiscal year.
Changes for daily routines
Residents who commute by car to offices near Asok or Thong Lo BTS stations will now pay an extra 250 baht each month if they keep a permit. Those without permits face fines of 500 baht per violation under the same order. Local advocates note that households with two vehicles will see the largest increase, adding 500 baht to combined annual costs.
Small businesses along Thonglor Soi 10 and 13 that rely on customer parking report they will need to update signage and notify clients about the new rates before the August start date. The district office has scheduled two information sessions at the Thonglor community hall on 15 and 22 July for permit holders to ask questions about renewal procedures.
Next steps for permit holders
Renewal applications open on 15 July through the district website or in person at the Thonglor District Office on Sukhumvit 55. The government projects that 6,200 permits will be processed under the new rates by the end of September. Existing permits remain valid until their printed expiry date, after which holders must pay the revised amount to continue using designated spaces.
The district will publish updated maps of permitted zones on its public notice board by 20 July. Residents can contact the traffic division directly for clarification on eligibility rules tied to proof of address documents.
