The district council passed the annual operating budget in late June. That document directed the mayor's office to adjust collection routes to match available trucks and staff after several vehicles reached the end of their service life.

Households near Chatuchak Park will move from Tuesday and Friday pickups to Monday and Thursday starting the first week of September. Market vendors along Kamphaeng Phet Road must separate organic waste from packaging by the same date or face delayed collection. Families in the northern sub-districts will see an extra sorting bin requirement added to their existing two-bin system.
The legislation states that collection crews will operate on revised routes through December. Local advocates note that residents who place items at the curb after 6 a.m. on scheduled days may wait an additional 24 hours for the next run.
Next steps in the rollout
The district office will hold a public briefing on 15 August at the Chatuchak District Hall to distribute printed route maps. Policy analysts say full transition across all zones is projected to finish by the end of December once new collection vehicles enter service.
Residents can submit route questions through the district website or at any of the five sub-district offices beginning next week. The government says the policy will maintain current collection frequency while aligning crews with the approved budget allocation.
