The change applies to every household within the district boundaries and covers both single-family homes and apartment buildings. Local government records list the adjustment as part of the mayor's annual budget submission for fiscal year 2026.

Cost-of-living pressures have increased for residents since the start of 2026, with national fuel prices and imported goods contributing to higher everyday expenses. The district receives a portion of its operating revenue from household service fees, and the adjustment reallocates existing budget lines rather than introducing new taxes. Policy documents filed with the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration show the measure was developed after consultation with the district finance office.

Monthly Savings for Typical Households

A two-person household in Chatuchak currently pays 420 baht per month for combined waste and water services. Under the adjustment, that amount falls to 386 baht, producing an annual saving of 408 baht. Larger families in three-bedroom homes will see reductions of 55 to 70 baht each month, according to the district's published fee schedule. These amounts remain separate from national utility subsidies and apply directly to the local government portion of the bill.

The 2026 Chatuchak District Budget allocates 248 million baht in projected revenue from household service fees before the adjustment. After the reduction, the figure drops to 228 million baht, with the shortfall covered by reallocating 20 million baht previously earmarked for capital maintenance projects. District finance staff confirmed the reallocation during the June council meeting.

Payment and Review Process

Residents will see the lower amounts on their next combined service bill issued in early August. The district revenue office will process automatic adjustments for all registered accounts without requiring separate applications.
