The legislation follows a 2025 district report that recorded 1,200 pothole complaints filed with the Chatuchak municipal office between January and November. The bill requires the district administration to complete tender documents by July 20 and begin physical work no later than August 10.

Residents who drive or take buses along Phahonyothin Road will encounter scheduled lane closures during the repair phase. Market vendors who unload goods before dawn each Saturday and Sunday will receive advance notice of restricted access points so they can reroute delivery trucks through Kamphaeng Phet Road.
Local advocates note that households in the 12 apartment blocks adjacent to the market currently spend an average of 18 minutes each morning navigating damaged sections of road. The bill text states that the new surface must meet a 10-year durability standard before the district accepts the completed sections.
Budget details and next steps
The Productivity Commission has found that similar district-level road programmes completed in 2024 used 38 percent of their allocation on materials and 62 percent on labour and equipment. The Chatuchak allocation follows the same ratio, according to the schedule published with the bill.
District engineers will hold a public briefing on July 22 at the Chatuchak community hall to present the exact closure timetable. Residents may submit written comments on the proposed traffic diversion plan until July 29. Work is projected to finish by the end of November 2026.
